Born in 1168, Prithviraj Chauhan became king in 1179 when he was just a minor. He inherited the throne from his father Someshwar Chauhan belonging to Rajput dynasty.His mother was Karupuravalli.He was extraordinarily strong and was a great warrior.His chest, it is said, was twice the size of his waist.He captured Delhi defeating Raja Tomaro Rajput.Qila Rai Pithora in Delhi was constructed during his time.His empire extended to Haryana, Rajasthan,Madhya Pradesh,Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.On his love with Sanyokta, daughter of Raja Jai Chand of Kannauj, there are varying accounts.Some of the historians hold a view that both had never seen each other till swayambar as organised by Raja Jai Chand took place when Prithviraj picked her up on the back of his horse.Sanyokta readily joined him as she already had heard so many great stories of his chivalary and valour falling in love with him. The other version is that both of them were already in love with each other for a long time and used to meet secretly during royal festivities and in temples. But both the accounts are common on one point that Sanyokta’s father Jai Chand was never for marrying his daughter with Prithviraj who had to hide himself near the venue of Swayambar and was able to manage her elopement with him on his horse back. He was chased by Jai Chand’s soldiers but none could touch him and he moved forward in a flying speed to his daestination with halt at Jaipur staying at Amer Fort for the first honey moon night. Chandra Bardai has given a detailed narration of glory and grandeur of Prithviraj most appealingly describing about love between him and Sanyokta.All historians are common in view on the point that Prithviraj Chauhan was the greatest Hindu King in North India during his time.Many an invaders from other countries were defeated by him -last one being Mohd.Gori. Mohd.Gori was defeated by Prithviraj Chauhan number of times and every time he had to surrender but Prithviraj Chauhan was kind enough to spare him life.At a stage later Mohd.Gori could manage upper hand and took Prithviraj and his court poet Chandrabardai Bhatt into captivity blinding both of them in both their eyes callously.http://www.shvoong.com/law-and-politics/1689681-hang-available-post/Â

Some lesser known aspects of prithviraj story are as under :
1. Muhammad Gori was defeated 17 times and captured 6 times in person .Not even by Prithviraj but merely by his generals like Dhir Pundir
,Chamundrai. etc.such was power of his army.
Every time Prithviraj showing his magnanimity let him go.
2. His uncle Kanh was so powerful that he couldn’t bear anybody raise his moustache in front of him. For this reason he killed many rajputs of gujrat. This was the reason of war between ajmer and gujrat. Prithviraj was so upset at him that he requested him to wear a cloth-shield over his eyes. which he did for all his lifetime. It was he hold the ground when prithviraj eloped with samyogita.
3. Jaychand so detested prithviraj that he made a statue of prithviraj and placed as door keeper to insult him. But samyogita garlanded his statue only.
4. Prithviraj was so obsessed with his wife samyogita that samarsi, his sister’s hisband had to wait for 40 days to meet him. This obsession with samyogita was the reason of his fall.
5. Some of the brave generals of Prithviraj were also upset with him as he punished them for petty things. He kept Kaimas ,his general captive due to his affair with a maid servant. He also imprisoned,chamundrai,his finest soldier.
One of his general Hahulirai Hara couldn’t bear his insult and joined Gori against him. It was he who imprisioned Chand beforehis war with gori. Such high handedness cost prithviraj dear during war.
5.Prithviraj kept his resistance till he was captured. When his arrows were exhausted, he fought with his sword and then with his dagger. It took the might of 40 mighty men to capture him when he was barehanded.
5.When victorious Gori encountered his prisioner prithviraj, instead of being humble he stared him angrily, his stare was so nasty that Gori couldn’t bear it and ordered his eyes to be pierced with hot iron rods. Stillprithviraj refused to bow in front of him.
6. Prithviraj had boasted that he could pierce 7 iron plates with a single arrow blindfolded. During his captivity Chand asked him to redeem his pledge. At this Prithviraj grieved at his sorry state but Chand reminded him that it is only one arrow that is needed.He also signalledthe location of Gori’s seat.

Prithviraj said that he wouldn’t shoot at the word of a lowly officer hencegori himself asked him to shoot. It was only onearrowthat enough to bring gori to the ground.

iam very much astonished by the bravery deeds of Prithvi Raj Chauhan since my childhood. ialso belong to rajput family .you can also see ablack and white hindi film “Balidaan”based at Prithvi . Iwould also like to tell you that the first pillar of qutub minar was built by prithvi raj. the mosque there was the famous mandir of satyanarayan bhagwan.people of rajput clan were made to forget there gloruous history that have deprived them the feeling of honour iwould request you to make a stand where a simple person who is not computer savy can express his feeling. only by having a common platform we ca resist the unjustice being done to us even today in the form of quota in jobs ans education system

But unfortunately the graveyard of such a brave king is not in india and no one is taking any action for this. as we all know that his graveyard was in Kandhar.
